By Ricky Manliguis

SAN JUAN, MM—Make it six wins in a row for Arellano University.

Dominant right from the get-go, the Chiefs hammered College of Saint Benilde, 78-69, for its sixth straight win in the third and final game of Friday’s NCAA Season 92 action at the FilOil Flying V Centre.

With Jio Jalalon and Dioncee Holts providing the spark, the Legarda cagers notched its ninth win in 11 starts, while giving the school its longest win streak since its entry in the country’s oldest collegiate league in 2009.

Veteran playmaker Jalalon topscored with 17 points, five rebounds, and five assists for the Chiefs, which held a 22-point lead at some point in the match.

Holts recorded 12 points and 12 rebounds, while Jalalon’s backcourt partner Kent Salado played an all-around game with 11 markers, six rebounds, six assists, and three steals.

The win, coupled with Perpetual Help’s 55-71 loss to San Sebastian earlier in the day, propelled the Chiefs to second place behind league-leaders San Beda, which survived Emilio Aguinaldo College in the second game.

Carlo Young paced the Blazers, still languishing at the bottom of the standings with its 11th consecutive defeat, with 24 markers, with JJ Domingo adding 15.
