Teodoro back in groove as Bombers humble Stags

By Ricky Manliguis

SAN JUAN, MM—After a forgettable game the last time out, Teytey Teodoro is back in harness for Jose Rizal University.

Teodoro produced 18 points to lead the Heavy Bombers to a 68-62 win over the struggling San Sebastian Stags in the conclusion of Tuesday’s NCAA Season 92 basketball at the FilOil Flying V Centre.

The hot-shooting guard conspired with slotman Abdel Poutouchi on a 7-3 finishing kick in the final frame to take the fight out of the Stags and get back on the winning track with its third win in seven outings.

The Bombers were trailing most of the first half, but finally got their rhythm back to lead 50-47 at the end of three.

It was a seesaw game in the fourth quarter with the lead going back-and-forth.

Poutouchi kept the Stags at bay, before Teodoro drilled a back-breaking three for a 65-62 advantage.

Gio Lasquety and MJ Dela Virgen then sank three free throws for the final count.

Teodoro somehow made up for his his miserable four-point outing against defending champions Letran last July 28, as he converted half of his 14 attempts, including a 43 percent clip (3-of-7) from the three-point arc in over 22 minutes of playing time.

Poutouchi added nine points and eight rebounds, while Dela Virgen and Ervin Grospe tallied a combined 22 points.

San Sebastian slipped to a 1-7 win-loss card, as Ryan Costelo led the way with 18 markers, followed by Allyn Bulanadi with 15.
