SAN JUAN—Emilio Aguinaldo College added misery to College of Saint Benilde Blazers’ disastrous season, fashioning out a 65-62 win in the first game of Tuesday’s NCAA Season 92 action at the FiOil Flying V Centre. In a battle of eliminated teams, the Generals had to withstand a furious Benilde fightback in the fourth as it notched its sixth win in 17 outings, while the Blazers remained winless at 0-17. Remy Morada fired 18 points, including four free throws in the final two minutes, which killed the upset hopes of the Taft-based ballclub for the victory. Leading 62-53, Coach Ariel Sison’s wards watched as the Blazers crawled back to come within four, before Morada’s charities sealed the deal. Hamadou Laminou backstopped Morada with 12 points, six rebounds, and five assists, while Jeric Diego and Jervic Guzman had nine markers each. EAC entered the ballgame without its top two scorers, as Francis Munsayac is suffering from back problems, even as Sidney Onwubere served his one-game suspension for his two technicals in its last outing. Carlo Young would have sent to game into overtime, but missed his game-tying shot at the buzzer. He led CSB’s offense with 14 points, while Clement Leutcheu issued a double-double of 12 and 12 boards.
