LSGH ousts Lyceum; San Beda nears twice-to-beat

SAN JUAN, MM—La Salle-Greenhills formally entered the NCAA juniors basketball Final Four after beating Lyceum, 85-72, at the FilOil Flying V Centre on Thursday.

The Greenies outscored the Junior Pirates, 27-13, in the final canto to make the playoffs.

Unique Naboa scored 25 points, four rebounds, six assists, and one steal for La Salle-Greenhills, which moved up to 12-3.

Keith Manuel, McLaude Gaudana, and Marj De Leon each tallied 12 points for Lyceum, which was officially booted out of the Final Four race, effectively giving Malayan a free ride to the next round that consequently completed the playoff cast.

Meanwhile, San Beda inched closer to a twice-to-beat edge in the semis after a 96-83 rout of also-ran Letran.

Sam Abuhijeh led the Red Cubs, who quickly opened a double-digit lead and repulsed a gallant stand by the Squires in the endgame, with 22 points on 8-of-9 shooting, five rebounds, and one block.

Kurt Peyson tallied 20 points, eight rebounds, one assist, and one steal for the Squires, who committed 32 errors.

San Beda moved up to 14-1 and stretched its lead over Arellano for first place to a full game.

La Salle-Greenhills, on the other hand, is a game behind Arellano for second.
