RIO DE JANEIRO--The Philippines got a bronze medal in the Paralympics after Josephine Medina won third place in table tennis.
Medina beat Germany's Julianne Wolf, 11-5, 11-6, 11-7, in the third place match on Tuesday (Philippine Time) to capture the bronze.
“I have been praying to God that one day the Philippines would win a medal... for with God nothing is impossible! Now the Philippines will not go return home without a medal," said Medina in an interview with the ITTF.
Medina, a polio victim, has been playing table tennis as part of her therapy.
This the Philippines' first Paralympics medal since Adeline Dumapong also got a bronze in the powerlifting competition in Sydney in 2000.
