Mighty blows by Malaysia Dragons in Merlion Cup

MANILA--Mighty Sports' domination in the Merlion Cup continued on Friday night with a 105-78 rout of the Malaysia Dragons at the OCBC Arena in Singapore.

The PCBL strongholds began wrecking havoc on the reigning ABL champions, who last saw action in the PBA D-League, by outscoring them, 53-32, in the middle two quarters to turn a tight game at the start into a rout.

Matt Wright, who actually helped Malaysia capture the ABL title last year, scored 20 points to lead Mighty, while Joseph Yeo and Dewarick Spencer each added 16.

Mighty will take on the loser of the Singapore-Shanghai game, which is ongoing as of press time, in the semifinals on Saturday.

Mighty's win also dragged Seoul into the semifinals, where the KBL squad coached by South Korean legend Lee Sang-Min will face the winner of the Singapore-Shanghai match.
