NLEX clips GlobalPort to inch closer to playoff spot

QUEZON CITY--NLEX clobbered GlobalPort, 114-98, in a pivotal PBA Governors' Cup match for both teams at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Friday night.

The Road Warriors stormed past the Batang Pier in the third quarter, scoring 37 points in the said period to turn a 51-59 halftime deficit to an 88-79 lead before pulling away for good in the fourth.

Henry Walker scored 35 points, 13 rebounds, three blocks, and one steal, while Garvo Lanete added 25 points on five triples for NLEX, which moved to a tie with Meralco for sixth place, way inside the Top 8 quarterfinal cutoff, at 5-5.

The troika of Stanley Pringle, Terrence Romeo, and Mike Glover once again led the way for GlobalPort with a combined 74 points, but none of their teammates scored more than seven as the team found itself on the cusp of early elimination with a 3-7 card.
