KUALA LUMPUR--April Osenio scored a huge upset at One: Unbreakable Warriors after beating home country favorite Ann Osman at the Stadium Negara on Friday night.
Osenio won probably the biggest fight of her career after forcing Osman to a guillotine choke submission at the 4:09 mark of the first round.
Osenio's victory duplicated the feat of Rene Catalan, who finally notched a win in his stint with One Championship.
Catalan earned a unanimous decision win against Chinese opponent Zhang You Liang in the eventual curtain-raiser.
The only Filipino casualty in the said fight card was Trestle Tan, who bowed to another Malaysian pugilist, Agilan Thani, by a rear naked choke submission midway into Round 1 of their bout.
In the main event, Ev Ting sent his fellow Malaysians to a frenzy after a unanimous decision victory against Australian opponent Rob Lisita.
After the fight, Ting publicly demanded for a shot at the One lightweight title currently held by Shinya Aoki.
“I want a title shot! I want that strap!” Ting said.
Ting, however, may have to wait until 2017 before he gets his chance for the said belt as Aoki is already booked for a title defense against Osenio's Team Lakay stablemate Eduard Folayang on Nov. 11.
