MANILA--After smoothly getting past Singapore, Laos, and Vietnam, Perlas Pilipinas' real SEABA Women's Championship war begins on Friday night as the team takes on Indonesia at the Bukit Sendirit Stadium in Malacca.
In the main game of the triple-header at 8 p.m., Perlas looks to avenge its SEA Games loss to Indonesia last year that proved fatal as the Filipina team missed out at a medal in the said meet.
Gabriel Sofia, the 6-foot-5 center who dominated the paint in the said match, will once again lead the Indonesians, who are currently in third at 2-1.
Meanwhile, Coach Patrick Aquino hopes that the Filipinas will use their huge blowout wins as momentum boosters as they try to become solo leaders in the standings with Malaysia, the host nation, taking the night off.
However, the Malaysians are expected to be in attendance to scout the Filipinas in preparation for their grudge match on Saturday night at the said venue.
Perlas will cap its SEABA stint on Sunday night against another tough team in Thailand, which faces fellow winless squad Vietnam in Friday's curtain-raiser at 4 p.m. Singapore and Laos face off in the other game scheduled for Friday at 6 p.m.
