Phelps waxes hot as Phoenix rams Star

QUEZON CITY--Eugene Phelps lived up to his "El Destructor" tag again as Phoenix added more woes to Star's sluggish PBA Governors' Cup campaign with a 106-93 rout at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Friday night.

Phelps scored 45 points to lead the Fuel Masters, who went on a crucial 17-6 run to pull away for good from the Hotshots, who dropped to the bottom of the team standings at 1-7.

He also made 17 rebounds, three assists, two blocks, and one steal, although he committed seven turnovers.

Willie Wilson had a double-double of his own with 13 points and 11 rebounds alongside two assists, one steal, and two blocks to help Phelps lift Phoenix to a 4-4 slate.

Joel Wright tallied 29 points, 11 rebounds, three assists, three steals, and one block for Star.
