MANILA--While the PBA and SBP are still working out on how the "Gilas 5.0 Draft" will happen, one of the national team pool members already made his intention of joining the pros.

Carl Cruz formally declared for the regular PBA Draft as his name is among those who submitted their applications early into the application period for the Oct. 30 event.

The 6-foot-5 FEU forward has shown readiness for top-flight basketball after helping the cause of Cafe France-CEU in the D-League, eventually getting a Gilas call-up for the FIBA Asia Challenge.

Cruz will either be included in the regular draft or in the proposed special draft exclusively for the Gilas 5.0 players depending on the final agreement between the league and the NSA for basketball.

Cruz's fellow Baker Aaron Jeruta also declared for the draft, which is expected to be guard-loaded with Billy Robles, Jaycee Asuncion, and Jan Jamon also applying.

On the other hand, 6-foot-11 beanpole Jericho De Guzman threw his name to the draft list, while Joseph Eriobu, Jammer Jamito, Rashawn McCarthy, and Levi Hernandez are the other notable players in the 17-man list.

Interested applicants have until Oct. 14 to send their intent of joining the draft.
