MANILA—While he is in a tight clash with Jayson Castro for the Best Player of the Conference for the PBA Governors' Cup, June Mar Fajardo has a huge lead against Castro in the league's MVP race.

In a copy of the statistical report obtained by Dugout Philippines on Wednesday, the San Miguel center garnered 38.8 average SP's by the end of the conference semifinals, way ahead of the TNT guard, who only got 33.6.

GlobalPort's Terrence Romeo is slightly behind Castro with 33.5 points, while Alaska's Calvin Abueva is fourth with 32.1.

However, the fact that Abueva won the Best Player of the Conference for the Commissioner's Cup and Romeo has yet to win a BPC plum so far makes the former a prime candidate for the MVP award. Fajardo already has the BPC for the Philippine Cup in his bag.

Romeo remains eligible for a spot for the Mythical Selection.

The computation for the average season SP's was done by taking 40 percent of the players' Philippine Cup average SP's and 30 percent for each of their Commissioner's and Governors' Cups average SP's and adding them up.

Votes from the office of Commissioner Chito Narvasa, the media, and the players also serve as basis for the determining of the MVP.
