High schoolers score record-breakers at start of UAAP swimming

MANILA—The future of Philippine swimming has arrived!

Four junior tankers shattered UAAP swimming records in just the preliminary round of Day 1 of the said tournament at the Rizal Memorial Swimming Pool on Friday.

La Salle-Zobel's Nicole Pamintuan first ruled the girls' 100-meter freestyle by topping the heats at 1:00.02.

She also ruled the girls' 200-meter individual medley heats in record-breaking fashion, setting the new record at 2:30.45.

Pamintuan's teammate, Maurice Ilustre, also broke the boys' 800-meter freestyle, topping the heats at 8:37.92

On the other hand, UST's Sean Zamora also broke the record in the boys' 200-meter individual medley by clocking in at 2:14.34 in the preliminaries.

The finals of the said races, along with the other finals in the juniors and the seniors divisions, are ongoing as of posting.
