LSGH stays as SBP NCR champs after downing Ateneo

SAN JUAN, MM—While the Ateneo-La Salle "Black Sunday" was underway at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay, another Ateneo-La Salle game was ongoing at the Jacinto You Sports Center within Xavier School on Sunday.

At the final buzzer, the La Sallians already had something to cheer about.

LSGH-A blew past Ateneo, 56-44, in the Milo BEST Center SBP NCR final.

The Greenies took advantage of a fluid offense the Blue Eaglets going error-prone in the third quarter to break away for good.

Ethan Alian showcased an all-around game that earned him MVP honor with 12 points, eight rebounds, five assists, five steals, and one block for LSGH-A, which successfully defended its regional title and got a chance to defend the national title in the national finals in Bacolod on Dec. 3-4.

At the same time, the U11 Greenies avenged their "kuyas'" loss in the Passerelle final earlier Sunday.

Garrick Lao, the son of former UST star Gilbert Lao, had 11 points, five rebounds, and one steal for Ateneo.

On the other hand, San Beda-Taytay subdued Xavier-A, 48-44, to claim third place.
