MANILA--The Alabang Eagles soared to the JML 7's championship in fashion, sweeping the entire cup division and capping it off with sound shutouts in the playoffs at the Southern Plains Clubhouse in Calamba on Saturday.

The Eagles trounced the Baguio Highlanders, 38-0, in the semifinals before mauling the Clark Jets, 21-0, in the championship game to complete a sweep of the cup tournament.

“It has been a great campaign for the Eagles, undefeated for the entire tournament. We will use this momentum leading into our next tournament in Cebu in November,” said Jakey Letts.

However, CBRE spoiled the other Alabang squads from taking all the other marbles, winning tight finals.

CBRE's bowl squad subdued the Alabang Loros, 14-12, in the bowl final, while CBRE's plate team turned back the Alabang Ibons, 10-7.

CBRE's female squad completed the domination after nosing the Alabang Lady Eagles, 12-7.

In the other championship game scheduled on Saturday, Albay defeated Manila, 17-5, in the shield final.

“It has been an exciting finish to a busy domestic competition. It is amazing to see more and more homegrown players embracing and excelling in the sport,” quoted PRFU rugby development manager Jovan Masalunga.
