TAGUIG--Color Manila held a press conference at Kerry Sports inside Shangri-La at the Fort to announce its line-up of events for 2017.

First on its line-up of events for 2017 is Color Manila Run 5, which will be held on Jan. 8 at the Mall of Asia (MOA) Grounds in Pasay.

Color Manila Run 5 is a widely anticipated event for most runners, who can choose between 3k, 5k, 10k and 21k runs.

“We are happy to be on our fifth year for Color Manila Run. This is our biggest annual event and we usually like starting the year with a big bang. Some of the runners are already faces who have been participating in our events from Day 1. We are always thankful for their support and we look forward to seeing them more in the future,” said Justin Cordero, vice president for Color Manila.

Apart from Color Manila Run 5, several other events will be held in various provinces across the country.

According to Jay Em, president of Color Manila, “Our goal has always been to bring that same level of excitement and fun in other parts of the Philippines. In the past, we brought our concept-fun runs to these key cities--Davao, Ilocos Sur, Iloilo, Cebu, Pangasinan, Bacolod, La Union, and Isabela. For 2017, we are going back to these exciting locations and we are also adding events in Boracay, Bohol, Rizal, Abra, and Cagayan De Oro.”

Em continued, “We have it also with the Tourism Promotions Board (TPB), since is also one way to sports tourism in the country For some of the participants, the events encourage become a way for them to see the rest of the country by joining different fun runs in different cities. For example, last October, we had participants who joined us from the costume run in Alabang to Clark the next day then capped it with the Backlight Run (night run) in Vigan the day after. It was a long weekend after all, and some took the time out to have a vacation run of sorts. Apart from its local events, Color Manila has ambitious plans to enter Dubai, United Arab Emirates and the United States.

"We were more than inspired by our win at the Asia Sports Industry Awards (SPIA), that as a Philippine sports entity we can compete internationally. Perhaps this year will be the perfect time to enter the international market. We are indeed ready to bring that brand of fun and excitement to other parts of the world,” said Em.

For the remainder of 2016, Color Manila, still has CM Black Light Run at Clark, Pampanga on Dec. 3 and the CM Black Light Run to be held in Dagupan on Dec. 10.
