QUEZON CITY--GlobalPort crushed a radically different Mahindra squad from last season, 97-75, at the start of their respective PBA Philippine Cup campaigns at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Friday night.

The Batang Pier put up a storm early on that the Floodbusters could not stop as their starters were lethargic the entire game.

Terrence Romeo exploded for 29 points on 9-of-13 shooting with two rebounds and six assists to lead GlobalPort, while Stanley Pringle added 16 points, eight rebounds, five assists, and a steal.

KG Canaleta also came close to a double-double in his first game against his former team, which he helped make its first playoff appearance last conference, tallying nine points, 11 rebounds, three assists, and two blocks.

Alex Mallari had 17 points, nine rebounds, three assists, two steals, and one block off the bench for Mahindra, whose starters would only amass a combined nine points.
