NU stays alive in Final Four race, ousts UE

QUEZON CITY—NU stayed in contention for an outright UAAP Final Four seat with a 64-52 rout of UE in the first game since the Halloween break at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Saturday.

The Bulldogs went on a 20-7 fourth quarter to officially eliminate the Red Warriors from playoff contention.

Matt Salem sizzled from deep and finished with 20 points, six rebounds, and two assists, while Alfred Aroga added 11 points, 14 rebounds, two assists, and two blocks.

Chino Mosqueda had his best game in his rookie season with 14 markers, four boards, and one dime even as Jjay Alejandro had an all-around performance of 10 points, seven rebounds, six assists, and three steals.

Alvin Pasaol led UE with 10 points, 10 rebounds, two assists, and two blocks.

The Bulldogs are down to their final assignment against the Adamson Soaring Falcons on Nov. 13, but the former must hope that the latter struggles in its three matches before their clash to stay in the playoff chase.
