QUEZON CITY—San Miguel begins its bid for a third consecutive PBA Philippine Cup title right on opening night against Star at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Sunday night.
The Beermen take on the Hotshots in the first game of the 2017 season at 6:30 p.m., right after the opening ceremonies at 4 p.m.
San Miguel maintained the core of its lineup that completed a historic comeback from 0-3 down to win last season's Philippine Cup finals against Alaska while getting Arnold Van Opstal and Rashawn McCarthy in the draft.
Star, on the other hand, had an overhaul during the off-season, replacing Coach Jason Webb with Coach Chito Victolero as well as trading James Yap to Rain Or Shine for Paul Lee.
Draftees Jio Jalalon and Chris Javier will reinforce the Hotshots this season.
