Lariba to be feted for breakthrough Olympic stint

MANILA--The UAAP will formally laud table tennis sensation Ian Lariba on Wednesday for her historic Olympic stint in Rio De Janeiro last August.

Lariba, a member of La Salle's table tennis squad, became the first Filipino to compete in the table tennis competition of the said quadrennial meet, and she will be feted in a special segment of the UAAP basketball individual awards along with the other UAAP athletes who competed abroad.

Lariba and Ateneo swimmer Jessie Lacuna are among the Philippine representatives to Rio, and the latter will also be given an award.

Lariba also participated in the ASEAN University Games in Singapore, and she and the rest of the Green Archers' table tennis team will be handed citation as well.

Also to be lauded are the Ateneo FAST, Ateneo's volleyball teams, UST and FEU's athletics teams, NU's women's basketball squad, UE and UST's fencing teams, La Salle's Arian Puyo, Michael Del Prado, Jasper Tanhueco, Gian Rodriguez, and John Domantay, UP's Joy Rodgers and Winona Ten, Ateneo's Joseph Capinpin, Kimberly Zulueta, and Justine Joseph, and FEU's David Lumahan.
