Latoel all praises for Filipino fighters ahead of clash against Donayre

MANILA--Vincent Latoel admitted that he has become a fan of Philippine MMA after experiencing to battle against two Filipinos.

“Filipino fighters are true warriors. Filipinos fight with their pride and heart. I like these kinds of fighters because I have the same mentality,” said the Dutch-Indonesian pug.

Furthermore, he described the two Filipino opponents he faced before.

“I’ve faced Eduard Folayang before he became the One Lightweight World Champion. He was so tough and a gallant competitor. The same goes with Edward Kelly. He has a big heart,” continued Latoel.

A veteran of 36 fights, Latoel looks to start 2017 on a high note as he battles yet another Filipino opponent, upstart Vaughn Donayre, at One: Quest for Power on Jan. 14 in front of his fellow Indonesians in the capital city of Jakarta.

“My greatest advantage against Donayre is my experience. I have over 30 fights in my career. I hope that I can utilize that advantage in the fight. This is nothing personal, but I am determined to win. I’m fighting a brave Filipino fighter again. I have a lot of respect for Vaughn Donayre, but it’s my time to shine,” vowed Latoel.
