PASIG—All the hype on Friday night were around the main game between Rain Or Shine and former coach Yeng Guiao and NLEX.

But aside from joining Blackwater in second place, the mentor-former player showdown between Nash Racela and Alex Compton made the TNT-Alaska clash at the PhilSports Arena a compelling one as well.

In the end, Racela's experience prevailed over the potentials his former player at the Batangas Blades brought.

The KaTropa beat the Alaska Aces, 109-100, in a PBA Philippine Cup tie.

TNT took control of the game after a 9-0 run in the first quarter and led by as much as 16, 54-38, at halftime.

Alaska would come to as close as seven, 70-77, after the third canto, but TNT never looked back and kept their opponents at bay.

Troy Rosario caught fire early on, making 19 points in the first half before finishing with 26 on six triples along with seven rebounds, one assist, and one steal for the KaTropa, which moved to 4-2.

Calvin Abueva tallied 18 points, 12 rebounds, four assists, two steals, and one block for the Aces, which slipped to 3-3.
