SAN JUAN— Far Eastern U-Diliman continued its
upset-conscious ways, banking on a blistering start to upset Nazareth School of
National U, 61-46, for its fourth straight win in the second match of UAAP
Season LXXIX junior’s basketball action Jan. 21 at the FilOil- Flying V Centre.
Continuing its giant-slaying ways, the
Baby Tams went out smoking from the get-go, erecting a 25-8 first quarter lead
behind the torrid shooting of Xyrus Torres, Eric Jabel, and Kenji Roman to tie
its victim in second place with an 8-2 card.
The victory was recorded a week after
the Diliman-based ballclub shocked erstwhile undefeated Adamson High School at
the start of the second round.
Torres was a man possessed, firing eight
points in the first canto to finish with 20 points, missing just three of his
10 attempts from the field, to go with three rebounds and two steals.
Roman finished the match with 12
markers with eight rebounds, while Jack Gloria had nine.
John Lloyd Clemente scored 14 points
and four boards for the Bullpups, but got little help from the his teammates
this time.
