MANILA--Matt Wright played arguably his best week so far in his PBA career, coming close to a triple-double in one game while bucking off a cold first half and exploding in the second half in the other.

Those performances earned Phoenix's rookie shooter the Accel-PBA Press Corps Player of the Week citation as announced by the league on Monday.

Wright had 12 points, 12 rebounds, and nine assists in the Fuel Masters' blowout of the NLEX Road Warriors on Wednesday night, while erupting for 18 second half points in their other win for the week against Barangay Ginebra San Miguel on Sunday night.

The back-to-back wins pushed Phoenix to the second spot in the team standings with one game left in its elimination round schedule, a crucial match against Alaska on Friday night.

"I think we're starting to click," Wright said about the team's recent surge.

He also kept to heart a motivation from Coach Ariel Vanguardia.

"He gave me a speech of confidence, and he trusts me," Wright continued.
