Racal opens D-League campaign with 51-point mauling of Blu-Malaysia

MANILA--Racal did not waste time in making a strong statement in just the second day of the PBA D-League Aspirants Cup after mauling Blu-Malaysia, 109-58, at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig on Monday.

The Ceramica opened the game on a 16-3 run and never looked back from there en route, limiting the Dragons to just 29 percent shooting and forcing them to 35 turnovers.

Rey Nambatac led six Racal players in double figures with 16 points along with nine rebounds, four assists, and two steals, while Donald Gumaru chipped in 14 points, two rebounds, two assists, and one steal off the bench.

Sidney Onwubere (12 points and 10 rebounds) and Lervin Flores (11 points and 12 rebounds) each came up with a double-double for the team, which took its first win under the tutelage of Jerry Codiñera.

Heng Yee Tong tallied 16 markers, one rebound, one assist, and three steals for Blu-Malaysia, which brought in its developmental team for the tournament as its key players are with the ABL squad.
