FIBA seals landmark partnership with Nike

MANILA--It is already gearing Gilas up. It is also gearing Team USA up as well as the FIBA 3x3 events.

Now, Nike is set to gear the entire FIBA community up as well.

FIBA announced on Monday that the world's governing basketball body forged an 11-year partnership with the sports apparel brand in promoting the former's international competitions.

"We are very excited about this partnership with FIBA. FIBA represents the highest level of international basketball competition, and Nike is committed to using our unmatched global reach to help foster player development and inspire fans around the world," said Craig Zanon, Nike's vice president and general manager for global basketball.

"This is a memorable day for FIBA as we team up with Nike, the basketball brand by excellence. FIBA has already enjoyed the privilege of working with Nike, who is the founding partner of 3x3, our ever-growing and popular urban discipline. We look forward to this long-term partnership and it helping us grow the game globally, thanks to the unrivaled popularity as well as worldwide presence that Nike has to offer," added FIBA secretary general Patrick Baumann.

Nike now has sponsorship rights to all the FIBA tournaments as well as in the world rankings.
