SMB clinches first finals seat with Game 7 win over TNT

PASAY—San Miguel moves on to the PBA Philippine Cup finals after romping TNT, 96-83, in the final game of their best-of-seven semifinal series at the Mall of Asia Arena on Monday night.

The Beermen waxed hot in the third quarter, going for 36 points on 15-of-19 shooting in the period to open a lead as large as 20 before holding off the KaTropa's gallant stand in the fourth.

June Mar Fajardo and Arwind Santos each tallied 22 points while accomplishing double-doubles as Fajardo grabbed 19 rebounds and Santos took 13 boards.

Fajardo also made two assists, four blocks, and one steal.

Chris Ross also had a double-double with 18 points and 11 assists while tallying six rebounds, one steal, and one block.

Larry Fonacier led TNT with 14 points.

The Beermen will face the winner of the other semifinals Game 7 between Barangay Ginebra San Miguel and the Star Hotshots scheduled for Tuesday night at 7 p.m. at the said venue in the finals beginning Friday night also at the said place.
