MANILA--The FEU Tamaraws gave Vince Santos a rousing welcome in his seniors debut as their tactician, downing the UST Growling Tigers with a 2-0  win to open their UAAP season earlier in the afternoon at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.

Fresh from clinching the Baby Tamaraws' seventh consecutive Juniors plum Saturday night, his wards took a two-goal blitz after the half-hour mark to get their road to redemption back on track after a disappointing title defense last season.

Senior Val Jurao got the ball rolling for FEU in the 33rd minute with a free kick that slips past Zaldy Abraham's palms and sophomore forward Rico Andes doubled their lead just two minutes later by poking the ball from a Chy Villaseñor cross in the right wing.

Neither side found the back of the net at the restart, with Dominique Canonigo the most guilty of expanding their lead by wasting three chances,

But Ray Joyel spared their blushes with a clean sheet that highlighted by a late save on Renz Gumban's header.

"The first goal was quite lucky, but the second goal was something that we do in training," the former Blue Booter quoted about the result after the match.
