PASAY--As announced just four days after successfully defending her belt, Angela Lee is set for another title defense.

One Championship unveiled on Thursday a showdown between Lee and Istela Nunes for the promotion's women's belt at One: Dynasty of Heroes at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in the said city-state on May 26, or, by fight night, two-and-a-half months after the former knocked out Jenny Huang to stay as champ.

However, Lee said that it was her call to have a quick second title defense of her belt.

“I said at the beginning of the year that I will make 2017 one to remember. I will keep my promise of being as active as I possibly can and I can’t wait to get right back in there,” she said.

Her opponent, however, is no ordinary pugilist as Nunes boasts a 5-0 record.

While known for her striking game, Nunes, hailing from the jiujitsu hotbed of Brazil, also has a ground game which could make her match with Lee, a known grappling specialist, interesting to watch should it go to the ground.

“When I joined One Championship, I had my eyes set on the world title. It’s my goal to someday become a world champion in mixed martial arts, and Angela Lee is one of the best fighters in the world. I cannot wait to test myself against a fighter of her caliber. I am preparing myself well and will make sure that I come ready for the best Angela Lee possible. On May 26, I will accomplish what so many others failed to do. I will beat Angela Lee and become champion,” Nunes vowed.

However, she may also have to deal with the homecourt advantage the Singaporean Lee will enjoy.

“Istela Nunes had better be ready to go to battle, because this time I’m defending the title on my turf,” Lee further said.
