PASIG—Cignal inched closer on snagging a top two spot as it demolished Jose Rizal University, 94-50, Thursday in the 2017 PBA D-League Aspirants' Cup at Ynares Sports Arena.

Robert Bolick led the Hawkeyes with 16 points, four rebounds, three assists, a steal, and a block as they racked their seventh straight win and improve to a 7-1 card.

Ben Adamos also chipped in 11 markers and two boards, while Andreas Cahilig also had 11 points and four rebounds.

"We're very happy with the way we played today. We stuck with our game plan and we were able to limit (Tey) Teodoro and (Paolo) Pontejos," said coach Boyet Fernandez.

The JRU gunners were stymied to just six points in the game, with Pontejos exiting midway in the second quarter due to a left foot sprain.

Cignal established dominance early, taking a 28-13 edge after the first frame and continued to pound on the Heavy Bombers to grab a lead as high as 48, 94-46, late in the payoff period courtesy of a Calvin Oftana fastbreak.

Abdel Poutouochi was the lone bright spot for JRU (3-4) with 10 points and seven rebounds.
