Kyra Dimaandal caused more pain into FEU's campaign after instigating a second half fightback for La Salle. |
MANILA -- La Salle had one foot back to the UAAP Women's Football final after coming back from a goal behind to do the double over FEU to open their second round Saturday afternoon at the Rizal Memorial.
A second-half brace for Kyra Dimaandal became the Lady Archers' main weapon in their 2-1 win that gave them maximum points for the fifth consecutive match, putting them one step closer in returning to the final as they aim to end their five-year title drought.
After Portia Acibar shocked Hans Smit's ladies in the 23rd minute to put them 1-0 up at the break, La Salle went to work at the restart and were rewarded by the freshman, who converted a drop cross by Christine Duran for the 53rd minute equalizer.
Taking advantage of the suspensions to Jean Kadil and Faith Pachejo from their cards incurred last Sunday in their win against Ateneo, La Salle sharpened their arrows further and begin their assault towards Joy Chavez's goalframe.
And with three minutes left, Dimaandal completed the comeback by poking the rebound off Sara Castañeda's initial effort, as the Lady Archers held their nerve on the defensive end up to the final whistle.
