Lady Bulldogs add misery to Lady Falcons, win back-to-back

SAN JUAN—National U scored its second consecutive victory as it pummeled the winless Adamson University, 25-21, 25-20, 25-19, in the first game of the second round action of the women’s volleyball competitions of UAAP Season LXXIX at the FilOil-Flying V Centre.

Needing a big rally after a seven-point hole in the third set, the Lady Bulldogs thus improved to a 5-3 win-loss record, a great follow-up to its pulsating five-set success over University of the Philippines on Sunday.

Jaja Santiago and Jorelle Singh sizzled in the third frame, orchestrating an uprising from a 5-12 deficit to a 17-16 edge, while exploding a 7-1 bomb in the clinching set for the outcome.

Santiago, the leading candidate for season MVP, led the way with 15 points spiked on 13 attacks and two blacks, while Singh cashed in 10 markers.

NU coach Roger Gorayeb can’t afford another tentative performance from his wards, as they will next meet defending champions La Salle on March 12.

Jema Galanza topscored for Adamson, now losers of eight consecutive matches and 15th over-all stretching back to last season, with 15 points, even as Bernadette Flora contributed nine.
