Rocha expects fireworks in "most talented Rising Stars ever"

PASAY--Slam Magazine Philippines managing editor Migs Rocha expressed bullishness on the players for this year's Slam Rising Stars Classic a week from Sunday.

"I think this is the most talented batch ever," Rocha said to some sportswriters during the press launch of the said high school all-star game at the Ginzadon Restaurant inside Resorts World Manila on Saturday.

Reigning NCAA juniors MVP Troy Mallinllin leads Team Punks along with Guilmer Dela Torre, Aaron Fermin, Jasper Salenga, John Clemente, Kenji Roman, Dave Ildefonso, Miguel Oczon, Karl Peñano, Unique Naboa, Harvey Pagsanjan and Sam Abuhiljeh.

Meanwhile, reigning UAAP juniors MVP Juan Gomez De Liaño headlines Team Hype alongside Rom Junsay, Rhayyan Amsali, Germy Mahinay, Joshua Tagala, LJ Gonzales, Will Gozum, Jonas Tibayan, Carlo Abadeza, Robert Minerva, Winderlich Coyoca, and Martin Romero.

Upon seeing them in practice, Rocha, as he further told the reporters, can just express his amazement at what they can bring to the table.

"We were at the practice earlier. Three-fourths of the guys ay nagda-dunk. Sobrang athletic [din sila]. Nag-iba na talaga yung high school level natin," he said.

Rocha, in closing, believes, "Most of them or all of them [will] get to the PBA one day."

Both teams will collide on March 26 at the Gatorade Hoops Center in Manadaluyong at 6 p.m.
