PASAY—San Beda-Taytay used an impressive second half to maul Sacred Heart, 79-61, in the NBTC Division 1 Final at the Mall of Asia Arena on Thursday night.
The Red Cubs, following a slow first half, exploded for 31 points, which was more than their score at halftime (28), in the third quarter while clamping down the Magis Eagles on defense in the fourth to avenge their loss in the 2015 final.
Evan Nelle capped an MVP-worthy tournament performance with a game-high 18 points, five rebounds, two assists, and three steals for San Beda-Taytay.
Peter Alfaro, the other Red Cub in the Mythical Five, added 15 points, three rebounds, and two steals.
Travis Mantua led Sacred Heart with 14 points.
Mantua, Eroll Pastor, and Vincent Velasco complete the Division 1 Mythical Five cast.
