QUEZON CITY --
Table toppers Ateneo head into the postseason with a huge win, trampling FEU in their final home match as the men's football tournament concludes its regular season earlier in the evening at the Moro Lorenzo pitch.

With top spot at the end of eliminations already locked last Sunday, the Blue Eagles of Jaypee Merida did not even let up to claw the rugged Tamaraws apart in a 3-1 win that gave them their 35th point at the end of the double round robin phase.

The win sealed their top spot for the first time since 2013 where they last won the whole thing.

Jarvey Gayoso shove the home side ahead in the 32nd minute with a pinpoint header from Rupert Baña's cross for his ninth goal of the season, but Dominique Canonigo quickly equalized five minutes later with his left footed strike. However, Koko Gaudiel restored Ateneo's advantage with a close ranged shot to put them 2-1 up at the break, before Carlo Liay settled matters with a well-taken spot kick 13 minutes into the restart.
