Ginebra prevails over Star in "Anniversary Clasico"

PASAY—Ginebra made the majority of the Mall of Asia Arena crowd happy in the PBA's anniversary day.

The Barangay blasted the Star Hotshots, 113-98, in the latest chapter of the "Manila Clasico" in front of 13,150 fans on Sunday night.

Ginebra crawled back from 12 points down early in the third quarter and pummeled Star late in the fourth quarter to score its second straight win in the Commissioner's Cup.

The Hotshots started the second half strong, opening a 67-55 lead.

But the Barangay crawled back and took an 82-75 advantage at the end of the quarter.

Star still tried to keep the game close, but Ginebra sizzled late in the fourth to pull away for good.

Justin Brownlee had 30 points, 15 rebounds, six assists, four blocks, and two steals, while LA Tenorio added 21 points, one rebound, two assists, and one steal for the Barangay, who repeated their Philippine Cup semifinal mastery of the Hotshots.

Tony Mitchell tallied 21 markers, nine boards, one assist, two blocks, and two steals for the Hotshots, who lost for the first time after a 4-0 start.
