PBA

LUCENA—It all boiled down to the final shot, and a new three-point contest champion was crowned.

Allein Maliksi won the PBA All-Star Three-point Shootout in just his first try, taking the title from erstwhile champ Terrence Romeo in a close final round at the Quezon Convention Center on Friday.

The Star Hotshot edged out the explosive GlobalPort Batang Pier guard and Barangay Ginebra's LA Tenorio in a close final round that came down to the former's final attempt.

Tenorio, who had the best score in the first round with 23, tallied a bit lower in the second round, but his 18 points was enough to give Romeo and Maliksi a tough fight.

Romeo survived a dry rack from the left wing and racked up 17 points entering the last shot, but he missed the money ball that could have put him ahead.

Maliksi, on the other hand, bucked a slow start and made 17 points as well entering the final ball.

He, however, drilled the money ball in to the delight of the crowd.
