EG pulls huge comeback, sets up Manila Masters finals date with Newbee

By Ivan Saldajeno

PASAY—Evil Geniuses banked on a huge Game 2 comeback to oust NP, 2-1, in the lower bracket finals of the Manila Masters at the Mall of Asia Arena on Sunday.

With its back already against the wall after dropping Game 1 and losing all but one barracks in Game 2, Sumail Hassan, playing Storm Spirit, pulled a crucial Aegis steal, while Saahil Arora, playing Legion Commander, paid dividends after going for a 40 damage Duel win bonus as he helped contain Jacky Mao's Bristleback to force the decider after a 76-minute classic.

Hassan then played decoy as Puck, letting Arora, now playing Faceless Void, and Armour Babaev, playing Razor, take control for EG in Game 3, and it worked significantly as NP could not find answers to EG's offensive.

The American side will take on Chinese quintet Newbee, the upper bracket winner, in the best-of-five finals later Sunday.
