MANILA--TNT import Donte Greene issued an apology on Monday following his comments on Friday night after the team's game against San Miguel.
Greene, when asked by reporters for his reaction on Charles Rhodes' remarks that he was scared of guarding him, said, "He plays for San Miguel. He has the referees in his back pocket."

With Commissioner Chito Narvasa apparently not happy with the remark, he summoned Greene to the PBA office in Quezon City about it.
"It was all a joking matter between me and Rhodes, but I understand there are some things you just can say. I didn't mean to offend the referees that refereed the game on Friday and I apologize to them," Greene said in a statement posted by the PBA website. "I wanna thank the league for understanding where I was coming from and I accept all penalties that come down with it."
