QUEZON CITY—In the very first game of the SEABA Men's Championship, Indonesia showed why it can be the biggest threat to Gilas' title retention bid.

Indonesia mauled Singapore, 71-50, in the tournament opener at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Friday.

The Indonesians limited the Singaporeans to only three points in the first quarter and 11 by halftime and never looked back.

Mario Wuysang paced Indonesia with 20 points, 17 in the first half capped by three straight triples in the second period that sealed the outcome.

Christian Sitepu added 15 points, six rebounds, three assists, three blocks, and one steal for Indonesia, which played somehow undermanned with naturalized player Jamarr Johnson and Arki Wisnu, who are awaiting clearance from FIBA.

Larry Liew made 11 markers for Singapore, which will play Gilas next on Saturday night.
