MANILA--San Sebastian frustrated Mapua anew in the FilOil Flying V Preseason Premier Cup with a 76-63 win in an all-NCAA affair at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan City on Monday.
The Golden Stags picked up the pace in the third quarter, dropping 28 points on the Cardinals before limiting them to only 15 points in the final frame.
"It's the defense that made the difference," said Coach Egay Macaraya, whose San Sebastian squad actually hounded Mapua almost all game long.
Mike Calisaan led the Stags, which moved up to 3-1, with 16 points, 10 rebounds, and one assist, while Jerick Fabian added 15 points, three rebounds, one assist, and one steal off the bench.
Laurence Victoria tallied 18 markers, five boards, and two caroms for the Cardinals, which remained winless after five games.
