TNT undergoes import change ahead of Legazpi clash against Alaska

By Ivan Saldajeno

MANILA--With TNT still bidding for a twice-to-beat advantage in the PBA Commissioner's Cup, the team made another import change.

The KaTropa decided to bring in Joshua Smith to replace Donte Greene ahead of their Saturday night showdown against the Alaska Aces.

Listed at 6-feet-10 and 290 pounds, Smith was a highly-touted center prospect in high school that caught the eyes of UCLA, where he would commit in 2010.

However, weight issues plus some concerns surrounding then Bruins coach Ben Howland prompted Smith to transfer to Georgetown, where he would finish his college career with the Hoyas.

Smith went undrafted in 2015 NBA Draft but was signed by Houston during the ensuing preseason.

After getting waived before the start of the regular season, the Rockets' D-League affiliate Rio Grande Valley Vipers signed him.

Smith will be eligible to play for TNT in the match against Alaska, another team chasing the playoff bonus, at the Ibalong Centrum in Legazpi at 5 p.m. Saturday.
