MANILA--Cedric De Joya scored the winning basket as Batangas walked away with an 81-79 win against Wang's at the resumption of the PBA D-League Foundation Cup at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig on Tuesday.
De Joya dropped a floater in just before the buzzer sounded as Batangas survived a comeback bid from Wang's to join Flying V as joint leaders in the standings at 2-0.
Batangas held a 65-52 lead early into the fourth quarter, but Wang's slowly picked up the pace later in the period and eventually came close to forcing overtime after Robbie Herndon scored a huge triple for a 79-all deadlock with 4.6 seconds left.
With no timeouts left, De Joya had to go the full length of the court before going for the teardrop that went in to break Wang's hearts.
De Joya finished with 14 points on 5-of-9 shooting, backstopping Joseph Sedurifa, who led Batangas with 25.
Herndon's 27-point, 14-rebound, one-assist, three-steal, and one-block effort went down the drain as Wang's dropped to 1-1.
