MANILA--Kevin Durant was the hands-down pick for the 2017 Finals MVP.
In a copy of a statement obtained by Dugout Philippines on Tuesday (Philippine Time), the members of the 11-man panel consisting of renowned NBA-beat reporters all voted Durant as the best player of the entire championship series won by Golden State.
Durant averaged 35.2 points, the most for a Finals series that lasted five games since Allen Iverson averaged 35.4 in 2001, 8.4 rebounds, and 5.4 assists a match to lift the Warriors to the title in just his first season there.
In the championship clincher in Oakland, Durant scored 39 points on 14-of-20 shooting with seven rebounds, five assists, and one steal.
