Islanders Red ousts Singapore in PIHT playoffs

MANDALUYONG—Islanders Red eliminated Singapore from contention in the open division of the Philippine Ice Hockey Tournament with a 5-0 shutout at the SM Megamall Skating Rink on Saturday.

Taylor Staton drew first blood for the Filipino side after slotting in a penalty gal early into the second period.

Antton Norberg added one more for Islanders Red with 25 seconds left in the canto.

Daniel Brodan then sealed Islanders Red's place in the semifinals with a brace in the third period. Philip Often capped the team's offensive barrage with the last goal of the match.

Islanders Red, which entered the knockout stages as the third seed, will take on the Philippine national team, which entered the semis outright as the second seed, later Saturday.
