MANILA--JRU banked on its defense to eliminate Adamson, 67-56, in the FilOil Flying V Preseason Premier Cup quarterfinals at the FilOil Flying V Centre on Wednesday.
The Heavy Bombers outscored the Soaring Falcons, 23-11, in the first quarter and continued pounding them on defense to book a place in the semifinals on Friday.
Teytey Teodoro paced JRU's offense, scoring 23 points and five rebounds, while Ervin Grospe added 16 points, eight rebounds, and one block.
Papi Sarr's 19-point, 18-rebound, and three-assist explosion went for naught as Adamson will exit the tournament in a sour note, converting only 29 percent of its shots all game long.
The Heavy Bombers will take on either the San Beda Red Lions or the UP Fighting Maroons in the semis. The Lions and the Maroons are playing as of press time.
