MANILA--The Philippines returned to its winning ways with a 20-14 win against Poland in the FIBA U18 3x3 World Cup in Chengdu, China on Friday night.

Juan Gomez De Liaño started the game with back-to-back long toms to put the Filipinos up, 4-0.

AJ Edu, on the other hand, provided the needed rim protection as he swatted some Polish layups as the Filipinos led by as much as seven, 14-7.

Poland tried to pull a comeback as the team shot back-to-back deuces that cut the lead to three, 14-11, but the Philippines restored to seal the win.

The Philippines even tried to score the knockout basket in style as Gomez De Liaño and Encho Serrano tried to do an alley-oop dunk attempt, but the defense somehow thwarted the highlight reel attempt.

Still, the Philippines moved up to 2-1 ahead of its last match against Turkmenistan later Friday night.
