MANILA—They may be among the favorites to capture the PBA D-League Foundation Cup title after making the Aspirants Cup Finals, but Racal and Cignal have a common goal, which is development.

For Alibaba coach Jerry Codiñera, his aim is on their overall improvement.

“We’ll continue to prepare. Basta kami, we try to improve more as the games approaches,” said Codiñera.

But for Hawkeyes mentor Boyet Fernandez, the emotional aspect is something they should put a premium on.

“We just have to be ready every game. May mga ginagawa pa rin kami na di magandang behavior, kaya dapat naming matutunan na hindi gawin yung mga yun,” he said.

Fernandez's statement came at the heels of some early drama in the game between Cignal and Zark's on Monday, in which despite the blowout win, Cignal ended up one man short after Mark Bringas was sent off.

Up next for Cignal is the veteran-laden Marinerong Pilipino on Thursday at 12 p.m. at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig, and Fernandez hopes the reigning Aspirants Cup champ will not fold emotionally again.

He said, “Kung magrereact kami palagi, magkakaproblema kami. We just need to stick with our system.”

Meanwhile, Racal takes on Zark's in the first game at 10 a.m.
