Sunday's PFL doubleheader features four teams that played in the second midweek matches and they hope to keep in step with leaders Meralco Manila in the table.
That's how second-placed Kaya FC Makati and fourth-placed JPV Marikina would try to do when they take on Stallion Laguna and Ilocos United respectively in a simultaneous 4PM kickoffs.
For Kaya gaffer Noel Marcaida, the visiting Stallions should not be taken lightly given their past fixtures with them ahead of their tussle in UMak.
“We’re expecting a fast transition game against Stallion,” he said. “They have players like Fitch Arboleda, Balot (Ruben) Doctora, and Jan Jan Melliza, who have the pace that can really exploit space if you give it to them.”
Coming from another home setback last Wednesday, Fitch Arboleda expects a physical encounter with Kaya while working on their defence.
“We’re practicing more on defending because that’s where we have been encountering problems.
It will be physical tomorrow, because like us, Kaya is very aggressive,” Arboleda said.
Meanwhile, Marikina are looking to pounce on Global Cebu's loss yesterday to leap-frog them in third when they take on the northern visitors in their home stand in Rizal Memorial as their pitch in Shoe Avenue undergo repairs.
“We don't take Ilocos likely. We'll have the same approach against them last match. If it is effective then we'll do it again,” Dan Padernal said after beating Stallion Laguna to a pulp last Wednesday.
