MUNTINLUPA--A new sports hub has just arrived in the south of the metro, as a French sports retailing giant formally opened its first ever store in the country last Thursday at one of Alabang's premier shopping districts.
A small program was made later in that evening at the Festival Mall to commemorate the opening of Decathlon's 16th store in Southeast Asia, and the first in the Philippines.
With a massive 3,000 square-meter complex that was softly opened two weeks ago, Decathlon's newest store houses equipment and gear for over 70 sports.
“As a brand, we want to be able to promote sports in the country. This means not only the sports popular in whatever market we go to, but also other sports. We want to be able to introduce new sports to our customers,” stated Decathlon Philippines’ country manager and CEO Hans Iff, as he also bared plans to include the country's national sports such as arnis and sipa to their fold.
For Iff, the massive advantage of Decathlon to others is that their facilities gives customers a sense of sporting heaven, as it has courts, playgrounds and other areas designed to test their stuff.
“Ultimately, the store was designed to enhance customers’ brand experience, inviting them in to touch, feel and see the quality of our products, the latest innovations, while discovering new sports,” added Iff.
